3 Keys to Off-Season Improvement in Wrestling
1) Knowledge- Learn new techniques and turn weaknesses into strengths- How: Join a local club (Liberty Mat Club, Lions Club, Concorde Mat Club, etc.) Go to Open Mats (AT LEAST 1/week if doing other sports) Go to camp in the summer (Can place you in groups to attend appropriate camps) COMPETE, COMPETE, COMPETE! Participate in as many tournaments as you can handle
2) Strength Development- Get the strength and power needed to compete at a high level and to effectively hit a variety of moves- How: Attend lifting sessions (Mon-Wed) Attend all workouts & give 100% 3) Experience- Get matches in the off-season when the wins and losses DO NOT count so that you are prepared in-season when they DO COUNT!- How: Go to open tournaments Join a local Spring club, or join the Federation, or Beltway to get added experience Go to open mats COMPETE! COMPETE! COMPETE!
