Liberty Mat Club Practice

Wednesdays: Instruction led by Ed Ryan (2x State Champion from McLean) @ MCLEAN HS - 6:30-8:00
Mondays: Instruction led by Dan Daus @ MARSHALL HS - 5:30-7:00

Congrats to Austin Miller, who won his first Outstanding Wrestler award at the Liberty District Tournament on Feb 5th.

Austin Miller (125lbs) and Pavel Hovhannisyan (160lbs) both pinned their opponents in the finals to capture their first District Championships.

6 Highlanders qualify for Northern Region Tournament at Fairfax HS next week.

Liberty Mat Club brings home 4 medals from Freshmen/Sophomore States...
Including 130lb. State Champion, Austin Miller(center).

Young Highlanders come up BIG at 2010 combined District/Region Tournament!

Ethan Arkin places 4th in the Northern Region earning his 130lb. Liberty District Championship!

Billy Dvorkin followed shortly after Ethan, also placing 4th in the Northern Region at 189lbs.

McLean jumped up 10+ spots on last year's performance finishing 14th overall as a team,
finishing 4th in the Liberty District (8th last year).

McLean was among the 3 Liberty District teams(Fairfax and Marshall) with 2 State qualifiers.

Big Wins from 9 different kids helped this YOUNG Highlanders wrestling team place 14th overall behind Hayfield 12th and South County 13th.

Only losing 2 members of the Starting Line-up, leaves high hopes for the 2010-2011 Highlanders!
